Freezing rain tonight?

Anyone else heard rumors about this? I keep hearing everything from rain to snow and even to a mix of the two...

On the weatherbug, it's telling me the following for tonight's forecast:
Isolated rain showers and flurries in the evening...then rain after midnight. Lows in the mid 30s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 100 percent.

If there's a 100% chance of rain and we really get it - especially after midnight - then the temperatures may drop and we may receive many icy spots as a result... especially dangerous black ice. (Which was all over my porch steps this morning... I just about had quite a fall.)

Seems like you was wanting this the other day Chubz to get out of school...Like I said in my post the other day...One of these days you'll be out of school and not want this because I had a wreck one night and my wife got hurt due to snow and ice...Remember some of us have to drive during these winter months with ice and snow on the roads...So is missing school all that important?

Re: Freezing rain tonight?

Dude... of course I don't want anyone getting hurt out in this kind of weather, I'm just excited whenever I miss school because all of the work and stress is finally blocked out for a day or two.

You ask, "Is missing school all that important?"

To me it is, but like I said, of course I hate to hear of anyone getting hurt, and I'm sorry about what happened to your wife.

Anyone can be hurt at any given moment, however. That's just life.

Re: Freezing rain tonight?

I agree that anyone can get hurt at any given time...But to want weather to come in and cancel school just so you can have a day without work or stress is alittle selfish wouldn't you think? I mean if this weather system comes in tonight alot here and everywhere have to get to work to pay bilss and such and you just have to go to school...If you don't want to go to school due to the work and stress then stay out? Seems logical doesn't it...As I said one of these days you'll be out of school and in the work force if your not already working and have to get out in this type of weather driving to keep food on the table and pay your bills.

Re: Freezing rain tonight?

The latest report from the NWS doesn't have much about it..other than one of the models having this area below freezing or around it when the precip moves in, however, they thought it was overdoing the cold air. I noticed that Wise's latest temp is 36, so looks like the "warmer" is pushing in. They did mention the was a "very complicated" situation, so we'll have wait and see what happens. It's another one of those situations in which the cold air banks up against the eastern side of the Appalachians but doesn't make it over into this area I believe. There is a freezing rain advisory out for areas such as Tazewell and Smyth Counties though.

There's a difference in doing what you have to do and having the right to make a decision of whether or not to do something optional.

School is one of those things that you have to do, and that I try to do my best in. I've not missed a day of school all year long, and I don't plan on voluntarily missing anytime soon.

Sometimes you just have to tough it out... whether you like it or not.

Re: Freezing rain tonight?

I remember when i was in school, it was great to miss school because of a closing. At that point in our lives it is all we know. We didn't think about businesses that didn't shut down , we didn't know better. That is just the way it is, the older you get the more things get put into prespective.
Just like the Prom is the biggest thing most attend up to that point, a big formal......
I remember those days well.

Indeed. I'm just loving it while I'm young... when I get older I'll face up to my punishments and see what it was really all about at the time.

It doesnt matter if it's raining, snowing or ice you can still wreck....I was in a wreck about a month ago and had nothing to do with all that, so it really doesnt matter.. You can wreck at anytime no matter what it's doing
